Another Cook in the Kitchen + Happy 2017!

Hey friends, it's been a while. I've been MIA for the past two months, but I swear there's a reason: I was buried deep in the trenches of wedding planning and getting married.

Today marks one whole month of marriage to my husband. Now that the wedding is over and things are settling down, I'm ready to resume my blogging and kick butt this year. But let me tell you, wedding planning was no joke and was filled with stress, tears, lots of crafting, managing a colossal Excel document, and frequent gym sessions. Thankfully I received a ton of help and support from my dear friends in Virginia, and my friends and family that are far away (shout out to my MOH, ministers, and church family - our wedding couldn't have happened and my sanity wouldn't have remained without you all)!

All of the work and hustlin' culminated on December 10, 2016 - the day I married my best friend.

Since that day, life has been a whirlwind of traveling and honeymooning, celebrating the holidays, unpacking all my stuff after moving into my husband's apartment, and figuring out how to adjust to life as a married couple. To be honest, we've already had a few tough moments. But I will say that being married suits us perfectly and I am so thankful to God for providing me with the most incredible man with whom I get to share the rest of my life.

I don't have much marriage advice to share with everyone at this point in time because I've barely gotten my feet wet, but I will say that being rested and hugging a lot are really important.

My husband and I are both so excited for our first year and I can't wait to share our trail adventures with you all in the coming months. Happy 2017 - may it be filled with rugged trails, good snacks, and lots of adventures!

P.S. Below are some of the photos from our first month of marriage

Hey, there's my sister! This was taken at our second reception back home in the Midwest where I got to wear my wedding dress again.
